Mr Michael Kraus is a lawyer at Prof. Haslinger & Partner.
Mag. Dr. Michael Kraus, LL.B., born 1987, studied law at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz from 2008 to 2013 as well as commercial law from 2009 to 2013. From 2013 to 2016, he completed his law studies with doctorate degree.
With his disseration on insurance law, Dr. Kraus received various awards, also from Germany.
From 2012 to 2016, he worked as a student employee and, further on, as an assistant at the Institute of Multimedia Law Studies of Linz, in the Departement of Multimedia Civil Law at the Johannes Kepler University.
Already during his studies, Dr. Kraus has been gaining valuable practical experience at a tax consultant office and also in the field of legal work.
In 2016, he started his career as a trainee lawyer at Prof. Haslinger & Partner. After passing his bar exam “with distinction” in 2019, Dr. Kraus began his activities as lawyer in 2020.
Dr. Kraus advises and represents clients in the field of insurance law (both insurers and policyholders), as well as hospitals and doctors in all matters (liabilities, building permits, etc.). His work also extends to clients from the banking sector and construction law matters, where he is regularly involved in public law procedures (zoning, construction and operating permits) as well as civil law matters (project development and sale, and contract drafting in real estate, contract law). This also includes corporate and tax law aspects, allowing Dr. Kraus to develop comprehensive and tailored solutions and, if necessary, enforce them through legal proceedings.
He is also academical active and also co-author in Praxiskommentar Krankenanstaltenrecht (published by Graziani-Weiss/Kuhn) as well as of Austrian’s only major commentary on the Insurance Contract Law (VersVG), which is published by the publishers Fenyves/Perner/Riedler. The team of publishers of this commentary consists of numerous people from the fields of science, the judiciary and practice. In addition, Dr. Kraus has been a lecturer at Johannes Kepler University Linz since the winter semester of 2023/24, teaching insurance law.
